Millen Belay & Kristine Bumeistere
‘Forgotten’
“Forgotten is an exploration of the traces left behind in an urban industrial space. Millen and Kristine hitch-hiked to Sheffield, to an abandoned tool making factory called George Barnsley & Sons, with the intention of documenting the 150 year old building and the marks left within it by people who once who once worked there. The book serves as a visual record of a once thriving but now forgotten space.
Capturing objects, textures and light that told stories about the building’s past, has effectively helped compose a photographic obituary. These images remind us that there are quiet, existing places that are forgotten by most, but should be treasured by all.”
