Black Country Stories is an ongoing series of works by photographer Martin Parr, focussing on Britain’s industrial heartland, the Black Country. Parr began documenting people and places, including markets, temples, factories, social clubs, in 2010, and is set to finish in 2014.
The Black Country locales Parr has shot include Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley, and my hometown of Wolverhampton. The New Art Gallery exhibition features Parr’s shot taken in Walsall throughout 2011, including the town’s famous leather and metal factories and the people that work there.
